The Principal Program Manager, Supplier Diversity and Citizenship will develop and implement initiatives to promote the utilization of small, local and diverse suppliers in the results-oriented acquisitions of services, material and equipment meeting the Company's various procurement needs. The role is will be focused on improving the GE Appliances (GEA) overall level of corporate citizenship and engagement, working to create and ensure positive and professional relationships in the business communities and increasing GEA’s visibility in diverse supplier communities and networks locally, regionally and nationally.
Works closely with executives and key stakeholders in all business lines, corporate functions and supplier organizations to develop effective supplier diversity strategies and implementation plans which will support the company’s commitment to economic development, contribute positively to fair advantage and ensure government compliance. This role works directly with the Supplier Diversity Advisory Council, consisting of the CPO and cross-functional senior level Executives to establish policy and report progress and status, delivering positive business results for the company in the areas of inclusion, community support, and legislative support, while supporting the company’s commitment to attractive and best-in-class sourcing practices and citizenship practices.
Manage the spend goals with diverse suppliers and work to build development programs for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 inclusion of local, small and diverse suppliers across the GEA portfolio of businesses.
Develop and maintain multi-year plans for diversity development activities to ensure inclusion of diverse spend across the enterprise.
Manage the integration of supplier diversity into the Category Management Plans and Capital Project Plans as well as into the Tactical Procurement bidding activity supporting site procurement
Engage in activities to identify and develop diverse suppliers to be able to have capacity, competency, and ability for industry attractiveness for GEA business across the enterprise
Drive monthly CPO sponsored Supplier Diversity Strategy Meetings and drive continuous improvement in Sourcing / Product Line interaction, involvement and delivery of local, small and diverse spend
Energetic participation, leadership and representation of GEA on select Boards and Committees in support of the communities GEA serves with a goal of increasing and promoting diverse supplier spend
Oversight and responsibility for development and maintenance of Supplier Diversity annual budget. Ensure applicability and return on investment for spend actions by targeting applicable and needed areas of advertising, forums and conferences / match making events based on activity set of GEA business units.
Search out and connect with the community and organizations serving diverse suppliers to create opportunities for improved GEA engagement
Strive to drive integration of supplier sustainability & diverse supplier recognition program during annual Supplier Conference
Drive Internal stakeholder accountability to foster the growth of supplier sustainability and diverse suppliers
Integrate Sustainability Question in RFx (Requests) and contracts; support and best in class waste management and recycling initiative
Develop and deliver a communication plan to drive the understanding, importance, and business benefits to GEA of improving our engagement with communities and diverse suppliers
Target outreach events to diverse suppliers to further enhance and promote GEA’s goals. Proactively facilitate the supplier prequalification process for diverse suppliers and ensure education and training on how to do business with GEA.
Bachelors’ degree in Business or related field
5 years of relevant Strategic Sourcing experience in commodity management or a related role involving negotiating, identifying opportunities, selecting suppliers and/or implementing contracts
Previous experience in creating and implementing a Supplier Diversity and/or Citizenship program
Demonstrated high-level project management experience leading multiple complex, cross-functional projects
