The Principal Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, Facilities Plant Engineering and Support Operations (PE&SO) Electrical Engineering will manage and lead facilities and infrastructure projects across Appliance Park. This position supports and services all “front office” and appliance production operations. Plant Engineering and Support Operations (PE&SO) is a team management structure that utilizes hourly union coordinators to assign work and manage each group in day to day operations in addition to source work to outside contractors.

How You'll Create Possibilities

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage capital equipment procurement projects:  Including specification development utilizing GEA & industry standards, supplier selection, early supplier engagement, technical reviews.
  • Responsible for management and engineering of Appliance Park infrastructure projects using maintenance resources and/or contracted resources.   Projects will vary in size and scope.  Key metrics will be safe project execution on schedule, on budget and delivering customers’ key objectives.
  • Manage power distribution and coordination across the site including breaker settings and arc flash model.  These items must be constantly evaluated and update to stay current with the changing manufacturing environment.
  • Manage resources to achieve the above goals.
  • Responsible for managing subcontracting process with maintenance group driving most efficient process for the company.
  • Responsible for support of the rest of the PE&SO team on projects and in support of the business when need arises.

Standards and Compliance:

  • Drive and create a safe and environmental compliant environment for all projects.  Most work areas and projects will involve high risk including high voltage work, working from heights, demolition, and abatement.
  • Must maintain and drive compliance for training, utilization of Avetta and safe work plans.
  • Ensure all equipment executed in GEA factories comply with Industry and Governmental Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards.
  • Utilize Human Organizational Performance (HOP) principles to ensure that all equipment / tooling / processes are implemented with the health and safety of the operators in mind. 

Cross-functional Work and Leadership:

  • As a Principal Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, this role participates in growing the AME organization’s capability.  This includes mentoring, guiding and helping more junior team members as well as adding to the body of knowledge of the department (training, developing new manufacturing processes, supporting Hoshin objectives, etc.)

What You'll Bring to Our Team

Position Requirement

  • Experience managing capital equipment procurement projects:  Including specification development, supplier selection, technical reviews, installation and qualification of equipment
  • Prior experience in a large-scale manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles
  • Ability to work in large cross-functional teams and at multiple levels in the organization (both salaried and shop floor operators / skilled trades team members)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and be an agent for change.
  • Good organizational, project management and presentation skills to interact with all levels within the organization and with suppliers and vendors
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of cross-functional program deliverables and ability to drive decisions based on the overall benefit to the company
  • Ability to mentor, grow more junior members of the team and add to the body of AME knowledge for the business

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related discipline OR equivalent hands-on experience in technical/manufacturing disciplines
  • 7+ years of experience with procurement, testing, installation of manufacturing equipment, infrastructure equipment, and process improvement.
  • Proven record of experience with power distribution and coordination across multiple sites. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of breaker settings and arc flash modeling. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ previous experience in project management leading facilities and/or infrastructure improvement projects
  • Six Sigma Certification
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Scheduler (or equivalent) and AutoCAD

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are normal for a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds and working in and around heavy equipment.
  • Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats.
  • These roles will require frequent walking in a manufacturing plant environment.
  • Light travel, <10% may be required.
  • Hours & Weekends: Working off-shift and weekends will be required.
