The Challenge

GE Appliances, a Haier Company is experiencing significant growth, which is creating over 250 quality jobs in Decatur, AL. We have an immediate need for a Maintenance Multi-craft Machinist Apprentice. This position will be part of a maintenance team in a high volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment. Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager, this position will perform various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in maintenance.

What you will Do

Assist skilled trade maintenance personnel in the repair, refurbishment &

installation of related production equipment, as well as other job assignments.

Successfully complete course work as outlined in the DPO Apprenticeship

program/ U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship & Training. Develop during the

course of training the ability to perform multi-craft skills while actually

working in a maintenance facility environment. This job can lead to the

classification of General Maintenance-A. The successful candidate must be a

demonstrated team player who demonstrates the initiative, ability & willingness

to learn during the development of the required skills. Selected candidates

may be required to rotate through all three shifts and the weekend crew during the program. Failure to complete required education will dismiss candidate from the position

REQUIREMENTS:

NOTE: Candidate to be chosen as most qualified & selected per

Apprenticeship training standards in cooperation with the Bureau of

Apprenticeship & Training Administration U.S. Department of Labor.

What you need to Succeed

1. Must be a graduate of an accredited program (minimum of 2 years) in an

electrical technical field of study. If no qualified bidder applies, those

currently enrolled in an accredited program will be considered. If awarded the

job, the applicant must complete the program in a customary time frame.

2. Accept & sign agreement to the DPO Apprenticeship Training Standards.

3. Must be able to obtain a fork truck license.

4. Any welding background or desire to become a certified welder will be

consideration.

Must be able to adhere to all physical and EHS requirements.
