The Challenge

This opportunity is for a Thermal Systems engineer to support development, qualification, and the launch of NPI of side by side and bottom freezer products.

What you will Do

  • Develop and provide technical expertise to support NPI program teams to meet all technical requirements.
  • Develop a complete understanding of product control algorithms and thermal performance to analyze lab and field issues and provide design feedback to the Mabe team.
  • Support distribution, retrofits, and data stream analysis of field test units.  Provide feedback to the Mabe team to support product qualification.
  • Complete DOE testing programs for submittal in the AP5 labs as required by the NPI programs.   
  • Work with PCTO and COQ teams to integrate C-changes as required into NPI build and test efforts.
  • Support concept and Technical reviews as required by the iNPI process.
  • Work closely with the electronics and software teams to develop required algorithm changes.
  • Drive DFR, DFSS, and FRACAS methodology.
  • Prioritize and resolve technical problems and escalate issues as required.
  • Develop and execute evaluation plans including field test and component qualification as required.
  • Support all regulatory approval requirements.
  • Own and maintain appropriate design documentation for product concepts, prototypes and production configurations.
  • Support Service evaluation and qualification needs.

What you need to Succeed

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to evaluate data using statistical tools to demonstrate difference, and design experiments to define major factors.
  • Proactive problem solver comfortable with hands on work in a laboratory or manufacturing setting.  Able to demonstrate and communicate solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a small team through the NPI execution process successfully.
  • Demonstrated project management and execution skills to successfully execute NPI or C-Change programs.  Ability to work effectively with a remote multi-site team.
  • Willing to travel as required, up to 20%.  Ability to hold off work hour conference calls with global suppliers as required.
  • Strong computer skills - high proficiency in Microsoft products.  Ability to grasp new systems quickly.
