The Challenge

This job posting is for anticipated future openings within Manufacturing Quality as a Sr. or Principal Manufacturing Quality Engineer - Test Systems. There will be openings on various shifts (1st, 2nd or 3rd.)

As a Sr. or Principal Manufacturing Quality Engineer, you'll manage the quality test manufacturing systems, test loops and final product testing; covering both new and existing product testing in the production operation, with increasing focus on validating New Products Introductions (NPI) and Change Implementations (CIB.)

What you will Do

  • Develop and implement new and improved test methods to enhance capabilities, support growth, new model introduction, and improve outgoing quality via enhanced test firewalls. Drive improvement projects through the CIB process.  i.e. Able to write and analyze Test Code for leak and flow rates, wattage, resistance, and other basic test parameters.
  • Provide first response to Business Team leader regarding production related issues surrounding test equipment, test loop or final product testing.
  • Manage & give work direction to 2nd shift Test Engineer.
  • Maintain quality test equipment, and gages.
  • Ownership for the calibration and preventative maintenance of test equipment
  • Ownership for the having spare parts and trouble- shooting procedures in place for test equipment to minimize down time.
  • Review daily assembly line test loops for equipment failure. Work with Process Improvement Engineers and maintenance to have the equipment repaired.
  • Steer to maintain a partnership with our shop operations personnel to promote a team that reacts aggressively to factory inefficiencies.
  • Implement Poke-Yoke work methods for testing and develop standard work and workstation aids to assist in operator training and operational consistency.
  • Improve testing capabilities to reduce false rejects and improved yields.

What you need to Succeed

Required:

  • BS Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent Electrical experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience in troubleshooting and supporting manufacturing test equipment
  • Electrical System Testing
  • Program C++
  • Experience in the function of basic electrical components:
  • Leak and Flow Testing/Analysis
  • Low Voltage Start
  • Motor/Compressor Overload
  • Safety: Ground Bond Continuity
  • Safety: High Voltage Withstand
  • Prior experience in a union environment
  • Quality leadership experience
  • Proven ability to influence and drive change
  • Solid verbal/written communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills
  • Advanced computer skills - high proficiency in Microsoft products (especially Excel) and ability to grasp new systems quickly
  • Early and/or late hours often required to work around the manufacturing schedule / timing
  • Some travel may be required
  • High initiative, self-starter, proactive, dedicated, results oriented, a team player

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Appliances manufacturing processes and/or similar high volume assembly processes
  • Experience & training in lean manufacturing practices
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • Delta Temperature Refrigeration cycle
  • Six Sigma training and experience
  • Noise Vibration Harshness Testing/analysis
  • Product Reliability Testing
  • Strong project management and analytical/problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to scope and analyze cross-functional problems to generate/implement solutions
