Site Supplier Quality Engineer - Controls

The Challenge

As a Site Supplier Quality Engineer - Controls, you'll work as the link between the AP5 refrigeration manufacturing plant, the Controls Commodity Business Team (CBT), and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to address quality related production issues. We'll look for your expertise to proactively identify supplier improvement activities to support quality and profitability improvement.

What you will Do

  • Serve as the Supplier Quality liaison between the site-based Cost of Quality (COQ), Manufacturing, and Controls CBT Supplier Quality teams for all Controls and Electromechanical parts for the AP5 Refrigeration Plant.

  • Drive permanent resolution of manufacturing issues (PPM rejects) and consumer issues (Service Calls) caused by supplier defects.

  • Work closely with the manufacturing team and suppliers to identify problems, initiate containment, drive to root cause, and implement sustainable corrective actions.

  • Use Lean Six Sigma tools to implement projects improving customer satisfaction while eliminating waste.

  • Work with suppliers and third party resources as needed to rework defective parts, lead inspections, and ensure proper deviation procedures are followed.

  • Where needed, evaluate supplier quality control plans to identify unaddressed failure modes and improve as needed.

  • Lead Supplier Quality initiatives and develop solutions to fix-or-exit problematic suppliers (Low Performing Supplier Program) by implementing robust corrective actions or qualifying alternate suppliers.

  • Support Field Quality Engineers through evaluation of Field Returns and communication of autopsy failures to suppliers and CBT organization.

  • Support New Product Implementation (NPI) programs while meeting goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

  • Learn the equipment and processes for testers in AP5.  Act as a backup for AP5 plant support.

Autopsy lab duties:

  • Schedule lab meetings with respective SQEs to review rejects

  • Maintain and calibrate lab test equipment as needed

  • Complete and update MCIs (Manufacturing Control Instruction) for the autopsy lab procedures

What you need to Succeed


  • Minimum 3 years' Electronics Design, Supplier Quality or 5+ years of Manufacturing Quality experience 
  • Ability to operate successfully in a matrix organization 
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Demonstrated project management skills 
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Demonstrated technical leadership of process development and analysis 



  • Technical Bachelor's degree preferred 
  • Prior global work experience & multi-lingual (Chinese / Spanish) 
  • Working knowledge of Supplier Quality systems and processes 
  • Lean experience or Six Sigma Certification 
  • Ability to simplify complex information and concisely prepare both verbal and written executive summaries to the Appliance Leadership Team. 
  • Preferred candidates have 3+ years of experience with assigned commodity design or manufacturing
