What you will do
Manage, develop, and coach a high-volume custom plastic injection processing small component manufacturing team.
Sound multitasking and prioritization skills to balance production needs.
Promote safety and ensure compliance with safety rules and procedures. Manage accident investigations using 5 Why to obtain root cause and achieve robust solutions.
Provide Plastic Injection Processing and Tooling technical troubleshooting expertise to the area as needed to ensure schedule achievement.
Steer activities of the cross-functional manufacturing team, including direct responsibility for hourly team members and assigned business units.
Responsible for operational performance and improvement of key metrics including safety, quality, and culture.
First respondent to hourly Team Members for the central coordination of a specified area. Owner of the hour-by-hour chart and direction of issues to respective Team Leaders to ensure standard work and escalation processes are followed.
Must know and align activities to support operational goals and priorities of the business and translate them to the team once a week via action planning report-outs.
Monitor Quality and OEE data/reports to guide the resolution of throughput issues and work projects to prevent future.
Manage the production priorities from the Master Scheduler.
Troubleshooting of issues as being press, tooling, and/or material root cause investigation.
Identify productivity opportunities.
Teaching robots using HMI.
Act as back-up for prioritizing tool room work orders.
What you need to Succeed
2 plus years or more leadership experience in manufacturing operations
Proven experience with troubleshooting high volume manufacturing equipment, plastic injection equipment, and secondary manufacturing equipment
Experienced managing and coaching team members at all levels of the organization to achieve operational results and positive union relations.
Proficiency in Microsoft products (especially Excel) and ability to grasp new systems quickly.
Proven project management and diagnostic problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to scope and diagnose cross-functional problems to generate and implement solutions.
High initiative, self-starter, proactive, dedicated, results-oriented, a team player.
Occasional off-shift, on-call, and weekend work may be required.
Some travel may be required and up to 10%.
Desired Characteristics, skills, and knowledge
Knowledge of Appliances manufacturing processes.
Experience in controls, preventative maintenance, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and vibration welding technics.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills coupled with demonstrated interpersonal skills.
Experience and training lean manufacturing practices.
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
Quality Leadership Experience.
Expertise with injection molding tooling and 1500- and 3000-ton molding machines.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing practices.
Ten years of experience with high-volume plastic injection molding and processing is desired.
