The Challenge

The Senior Transportation Analyst – Lowes & Deployment will be responsible for managing the transportation strategy and execution associated with one of our largest customers, Lowes. The role will serve as the single point of contact for the Lowes fulfillment team and will coordinate communication with other Transportation Analysts to provide consistency and excellence. This role will also be responsible for managing all Deployment shipments out of Appliance Park. This role is responsible for negotiating directly with carriers to achieve the best rates & service levels on truckload shipments for both Lowes and Deployment shipments leaving Appliance Park. The Senior Transportation Analyst works closely with the Logistics team in a “POD” environment, often providing direct feedback and direction based on freight decisions. The Transportation Analyst has to work cross-functionally with Logistics, Warehousing, Fulfillment, Sales, and the Supply Chain and works closely with our “Distribution & Fulfillment Execution Leader” to manage the flow of shipments efficiently out of Appliance Park.

What you will Do

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead all transportation management activities related to Lowes and Deployment shipments out of Appliance Park, including supplier strategy, supplier negotiations, supplier management, cost management, and fulfillment execution on ~$50 million annual spend and 40,000+ freight movements.
  • Lead the strategy associated with Lowes shipments across all GEA distribution facilities by serving as the main transportation contact for Fulfillment.
  • Drive on-time delivery, cycle time/velocity, shipment visibility, and quality on assigned modes including all origin/destination pairings.
  • Regularly review KPIs and report on carrier performance, including leading Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Lead Distribution projects to improve the flow of goods from GEA to Lowes.
  • Apply Lean concepts to areas of responsibility to drive operational excellence.
  • Identify & manage cost-out productivity projects, searching for creative ways to reduce supply chain costs.
  • Manage and improve transportation freight payment processes.

What you need to Succeed

Position Requirements:

Competencies required at various levels in the following areas:

  • Business Acumen with a keen awareness and ability to judge business situations informed by analysis. 
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders to segment and manage supplier relationships.  Quick to identify and execute relationship strategies with stakeholders and suppliers to improve overall efficiency, performance, accountability, compliance, and value
  • Financial Analytics: Ability to analyze financial data.
  • Strong systems Capability & Technology Skills- Oracle ERP Systems, CICS, IDS, PD, CustomerNet
  • Risk Management: Ability to systematically identify, analyze, and assess risk throughout the distribution network and generate options to reduce or mitigate perceived risks.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Proven strong problem solving/analytical skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel/Access

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management, engineering, business, finance or related field of study or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 (five) years of work experience in supply chain

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience in the transportation industry dealing with multiple transportation modes with strong experience in carrier management
  • Seven (7) years of work experience in distribution, supply chain, operations, fulfillment
  • Previous negotiation/sourcing experience
  • Certified Blackbelt or Lean experience preferred
  • OTM experience a plus
  • Direct experience in the ransportation industry dealing with multiple modes
  • Warehouse experience a plus

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • 10% travel required for domestic and/or international travel to customer sites/ plants, etc.
