The Challenge

GE Appliances (GEA) is looking for a motivated Senior Occupational Health Registered Nurse to join our team. The Senior Occupational Health Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing triage and direct care of occupational injuries and illnesses while simultaneously working closely with the Health Leadership Team and stakeholders to drive and improve upon: strategies, regulatory compliance, and standardizations of care across multiple GEA sites. What you will Do

  • Collaborates with multiple stakeholders including Plant Operations, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Human Resources (HR), Case Management, Workers’ Compensation teams, Union leaders, vendors, and other colleagues to carry out the objectives of the Health Benefits Services’ numerous lines of service.
  • Provides triage and direct care, including treatment of occupational and non-occupational injuries & illnesses including appropriate referral, follow up and emergency care using established medical protocols while documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Provides EAP referral assistance for employee mental health issues.
  • Performs health screenings/health assessments and completes all follow-up procedures, trending and program evaluation.
  • Provides health-related counseling for employees within the scope of nursing knowledge and practice.
  • Maintains & safeguards confidentiality of employee health information and health records.
  • Provides Occupational Health medical surveillance testing including pulmonary function testing, audiometric testing, vision screening, Mobile Equipment Operator physical and other testing as appropriate on employees identified by EHS and industrial hygiene monitoring.
  • Participates in safety, HR and other plant meetings with regard to medical, health and wellness, plant healthcare costs, emergency response, accommodations, and other objectives.
  • Participate in corporate and business level conference calls and e-Learning sessions, facilitate team meetings, support Occupational Health objectives.
  • Partner with Occupational Health Leadership Team to improve upon strategies, compliance, standardization across multiple GEA business sites.
  • Partner to coordinate training and medical response drills for First Aid Responders across multiple GEA business sites.
  • Partner with Occupational Health Leadership Team to manage/complete mission critical projects.
  • Partner with stakeholders to drive regulatory compliance and industry best practices related to Occupational Health programs and processes to advance continuous improvement.
  • Partner in the management of key compliance related programs
  • Partner in the creation and management of strategic documents

What you need to Succeed

MINIMUM EDUCATION:      

- Baccalaureate (PREFERRED) or Associate degree in nursing  

- Certification in occupational health nursing preferred (COHN, COHN-S)-

- Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Kentucky

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:    

-Three (3) or more years Occupational Health nursing experience required

- Knowledge of case management, workers’ compensation, ADA, and government (OSHA) regulations & additional education appropriate to the work setting

- AED/CPR Healthcare provider certification

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:      

- Ability to make independent nursing judgments, solve problems, prioritize

workload, and project management skills

- Excellent written & oral communication skills

- Maintain a professional & friendly attitude with all levels of the workforce

- Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required

- Travel may be required in this role - up to 20%
