The Challenge

Hands-on Supplier Quality Engineer supporting the design and development of the assigned program. The PQM, Program Quality Manager, will lead the programs in identifying suppliers, qualifications of parts, and developing an on-going Supplier Quality system.

What you will Do

  • Integral member of NPI Program teams, taking supplier quality ownership of program from concept to launch.
  • This individual will represent the larger supplier quality commodity business teams and support effective implementation of the program.
  • Communicate program details between the program team and the larger supplier quality organization.
  • Leverage Strategic Suppliers’ expertise early in NPI process to streamline program cost, quality, and time metrics.
  • Manage quality engineering activities with key supply base interactions and drive early supplier engagement on critical value streams for the program.
  • Manage PRR and early component reviews with technology, the commodity business team and the potential suppliers leading to a released drawing that is a good match between technology requirements and the supplier's process capabilities.
  • Develop and help execute the program supplier quality strategies required for execution of the program including developing new suppliers and managing significant changes to our current supply base.
  • Develop and manage schedules supporting program milestones and requirements for supplier tooling, equipment, and gauging.
  • Track supplier process development through first piece inspection for each component of the program, identify high risk tools or process, and develop cross functional abatement plans to address these risks.
  • Track and address any supplier quality issues through the launch of the program and into production. Validate that all program deviations have been closed or have appropriate action plans with CBT ownership.
  • Lead and support Sourcing Reviews in the NPI process and provide leadership in resolving related issues.
  • Support Supplier Business and Technical surveys as required.
  • Work cross functionally to ensure timely arrival of qualified parts/components for various NPI builds, specifically Pilot and Production. 

What you need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or better in Engineering or related field.
  • 7 years Quality, Supply Chain or Design experience
  • Excel and database expertise
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills
  • Exceptionally strong project/program management experience & track record w/ cross-functional teams
  • High level of personal ownership with ability to hold others accountable for results
  • Demonstrated high energy, aggressive self-starter, team player with a strong desire to win
  • Demonstrated process development and problem solving through the application of statistical quality control tools for process and product controls such as SPC, Gage R&R, FMEA, DOE
  • Experienced change agent with outstanding facilitative leadership and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and prior working experience with new product introductions (NPI)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead, develop, manage and implement aggressive project plans both globally and domestically
  • Demonstrated Lean experience
  • Prior international work experience & multi-lingual (Chinese / Spanish)
  • Demonstrated success in previous SQE or PQM roles (or equivalent)
  • Previous NPI Experience
  • Demonstrated leadership to influence and drive change with team members, and at all levels of the organization.

Working Conditions:

  • Some domestic (and possibly international) travel (10%-20%) to suppliers or GEA satellite plants may be required.
