Senior Application Engineer - HVAC

The Challenge

The senior application engineer will work with a small team of engineers to bring a new product category to GEA’s Plumbing and HVAC (Air & Water) microenterprise. Responsibilities include providing technical assistance/support/advice to the Sales team, Distributors, Dealers, Architects, Contractors, and homeowners. This is a great opportunity to be part of a new product category, Unitary or “Central” HVAC.

What you will Do

  • Work with Architects and Contractors to ensure HVAC equipment is properly specified and installed.  This includes system design, controls, and accessories.
  • Support Air Conditioner wholesale distributors with sizing, installation, and quality questions/concerns.
  • Provide technical support for post sales concerns and troubleshooting.
  • Utilize building plans or other customer supplied information to perform heat loss/gain analysis to determine cooling and heating requirements.
  • Help train customers on Air Conditioning products during visits to GE Appliances.
  • Support the sales team by attending national shows.
  • Perform seasonal performance factor analysis and answer questions for sales/customers regarding costs and benefits of using GEA HVAC products.
  • Interface with Product Management, Marketing, Quality, and Design Engineering in current and future product planning.  Provide customer and field feedback.
  • Troubleshoot field issues with root cause analysis.  Provide timely feedback to the core team.

What you need to Succeed

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or other science related major; or equivalent technical degree/experience
  • 7 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, and influencing skills
  • Ability with work with cross-functional team to support customers with HVAC equipment
  • Building construction knowledge including drawings and codes
  • Experience with HVAC products
  • Fluent use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word software packages
  • Domestic travel required, ~ 20%

Desired Characteristics

  • 4+ years’ experience in HVAC product design and development
  • Experience with regulatory requirements for the Unitary HVAC Products
  • Experience with application and installation requirements
  • Training experience
