Oversee, plan and execute plant improvement projects supporting the Lean plan, hoshin goals, and Appliance Production System (APS) target conditions.
Organize and drive lean events to focus on eliminating waste in both product and process design. This includes labor cost out, factory flow improvements, safety/ergo, and material flow.
A key enabler of strategy deployment and hoshin planning for the manufacturing operation, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of the organization's goals, goals, and strategies. Execute production system through fishbone, small-scale layout, and full-scale mock-ups before purchasing equipment.
Develop value stream maps for the organization and eliminate process waste through the implementation of lean techniques.
Drive consistency and timely implementation of all Lean activities (Shingijutsu led workshops, Kaizen Promotion Office (KPO) creation, etc.).
Coach and teach plant support staff, including front-line managers and team leaders.
Provides coaching, mentoring, and training on applying APS 20% methodology and tools in one-on-one and group settings to reinforce understanding and skills attained during APS training. ·
Coach and teach plant teams in developing and executing lean plans to reduce inventory, lead-time, and waste to improve process quality. ·
Creates opportunities for employees to learn through their jobs and within the classroom.
Develop training material as needed.
Provide daily work direction and coaching to Kaizen Promotion Office (KPO) team members.
Facilitate day-to-day activities for KPO. Prioritize and assign out work.
Track progress of projects to ensure timely completion.
Develop the Lean skillset of KPO's through ongoing coaching and teaching.
Other related duties as assigned
Network with other Appliance Park Lean teams to capture and promote lean best practices.
Order materials for projects. Other duties and projects as assigned.
Five (5) years of experience working within a manufacturing environment.
Three (3) years of experience utilizing Lean techniques and tools within a high-volume production operation.
Proven project management skills to autonomously develop, manage, steer and implement ambitious project plans.
Bachelor's degree (BS, BA, BSEE, BSME, BSIE)
Prior experience working within and developing under the Appliance Production System (APS) in such roles as Team Leader, Kaizen Promotion Officer (KPO), and/or Manager, Manufacturing Operations.
Experience building, empowering, and leading Lean continuous improvement projects and talented cross-functional teams.
Experience applying Lean tools and processes, such as Kaizen, 5S, Poka-Yoke, Kanban, JIT, Jidoka, SMED, and Heijunka.
Ability to build and promote organizational change management initiatives focused on positive relationships, building an idea/problem-solving culture.
Vision and fortitude to pursue big ideas encourage innovative experimentation.
Ability to communicate complex matters in a simple, understandable format.
Exceptional systematic, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
Green Belt or Black Belt Six Sigma Certification.
Working conditions are expected for both an office and manufacturing environment.
Work may involve transferring materials and products up to 50 pounds.
Working in the manufacturing environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not be limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, work shoes/boots.
Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening.
