The Challenge

The Senior Purchasing Program Manager (Sr. PPM) – NPI Refrigeration manages the sourcing activities necessary to ensure profitable and on-time execution of various Refrigeration New Product Introductions (NPIs) at the Appliance Park 5 Refrigeration facility.

What you will Do

  • Serve as an integral member of a New Product Introduction (NPI) team from concept to launch, ensuring launch executes at or below committed costs.
  • Maintain traceability and accountability to cost and schedule estimates as programs progress and regularly report out to sourcing leadership.
  • Understand current product cost target, including competitive Like Grade Quality (LGQ) landscape, potential follow-on projects and cost-out targets.
  • Build competitive cost models comparing GEA with industry to identify cost opportunities and plans to achieve model cost targets
  • Collaboratively work with Commodity Buyers on quoting, supplier selection (ensuring best suppliers and price) and the supplier onboarding process. 
  • Participate and provide input in integrated program reviews.
  • Lead resolutions to any NPI issues related to suppliers (including cost, delivery, safety and quality).
  • Review/Approve Business Change Notices and drawings for sourcing.
  • Update Part Information Tracker (PITs) with accurate lead times that comply with program milestone imperatives. 
  • Ensure technology and manufacturing teams comply with schedule to allow sourcing achieve goals.
  • Partner with service program team members to ensure service parts are in-stock prior to launch, including managing the outsource process of any obsolete parts.
  • Partner with Commodity Buyers, Supplier Quality and/or Technology to develop an early supplier engagement and development strategies for assigned programs, including Research & Development collaboration, supplier risk abatement, and product risk abatement.

What you need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5 years’ relevant experience within supply chain, program management or commodity management (including development programs).
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Exceptional communication skills and demonstrates ability to effectively influence.
  • Strong supplier management, negotiating, influencing, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Clear understanding of business acumen as related to NPI process, possessing strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong team player that collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources.
  • Professional oral/written communication.
  • Proven strong problem solving and collaborative skills to develop and implement business strategies cross-functionally and globally.
  • Demonstrated team player with a strong initiative to win.
  • Change agent with excellent facilitative leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • MS Excel and database expertise.
  • 10-25% domestic or international travel to suppliers may be required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business.
  • Demonstrated success in previous roles, including development programs.
  • Knowledge and prior working experience with new product introductions (NPI).
  • Prior Sourcing experience with global supply base.
