Work with a Lead Logistics Provider (LLP) / Third Party Logistics (3PL) company to manage GEA’s inbound domestic network.
Manage the LLP contract and performance to statement of work.
Coordinate with the Sr. Manager International Logistics on domestic transportation of international containers.
Manage the inbound transportation of NAFTA countries.
Utilize cross docks to eliminate LTL moves and lower overall transportation costs.
Develop metrics to track transportation timeliness and costs.
Support and minimize airfreight and other nonstandard freight moves.
Reduce abnormal freight expenses including demurrage and detention charges.
Benchmark other industries and technology to continually improve the domestic logistics operations.
Support Supplier Distribution Centers in more frequent deliveries to support inventory reduction targets.
Standards and Compliance:
Ensure contractors and logistics providers follow GEA sustainability standards.
Utilize GEA documentation standards and consider ISO to document processes.
Utilize standard work as a basis for continuous improvement.
Cross-functional Work and Leadership:
Work with Material Directors and Sourcing to understand the Value Stream and how the domestic transportation impacts the factory.
Coordinate with Material Directors inventory and delivery requirement.
Manage selection of domestic carriers by working with the Sourcing team.
Work cross functionally to eliminate waste in the supply chain including the integration with warehousing and international transportation.
Support New Product Introduction by working with all stake holders.
Prior relevant military service will be considered in relation to required/desired qualifications.
An in-depth both domestic and international transportation.
Have a proven record of successful project implementation relating to production control, logistics or material flow.
Exceptional record of accomplishment leading, developing and motivating cross-functional teams within an organization.
Successfully design, develop and implement logistics capabilities within the company.
Ability to work in large cross-functional teams and at multiple levels in the organization and external Logistics Providers.
Good oral and written communication skills – will be expected to provide status report outs to cross-functional team.
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of cross-functional program deliverables and ability to drive choices based on the overall benefit to the company
Computer literate and skilled in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Bachelor of Science Degree in Supply Chain or related discipline
4+ years hands on experience with
Understand and have experience with implementation of large projects that effect all manufacturing plants.
Strong computer knowledge including TMS and YMS.
Very creative talent with a proven ability to look past what is currently done and develop a practical, implementable vision for future with a strong history of executing to vision.
Previous experience with managing multiple transportation methods.
Prior NPI program experience
Working conditions are normal for a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds and working in and around heavy equipment.
Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats.
These roles will require frequent walking in a manufacturing plant environment
10% travel may be for domestic and/or international travel to supplier sites/ plants, etc.
Hours & Weekends: Working off-shift and weekends will be required.
