The Challenge

GE Appliances Finance Team is seeking an Associate Controllership Analyst who uses independent judgment and innovative thinking skills to oversee the Company’s ~$1 billion fixed assets (FA) from construction in process (CIP) to finished. The ideal candidate will have experience working cross functionally with other Finance teams and have experience in accounting and finance principles. This position reports to the Senior Controllership Analyst and is based at GE Appliances Louisville, KY Headquarters.

What you will Do

  • Perform closing responsibilities for the Company’s ~$1 billion fixed assets, which includes monthly closing of the Oracle Fixed Asset (OFA) module by interfacing assets that have been capitalized or expensed during the month from Project Accounting (PA) module and resolving system errors, as well as perform closing responsibilities for certain of the Company’s ~$1 billion intangible assets (e.g., software, trademarks). Record monthly fixed asset additions, impairments, transfers, and disposals.
  • Work cross-functionally with site Finance & Operations teams to verify completeness, existence, and accuracy of FA register and in PA system (e.g., legal entity, description, location, date placed-in-service, useful life)
  • Support and ensure compliance with Company accounting policies (e.g., capitalization/depreciation v expense) and internal controls surrounding fixed assets
  • Manage the Company’s annual physical verification audit of its fixed assets and optimize process to improve accuracy and effectiveness
  • Support Cloudleaf system radio-frequency identification (RFID) tagging process and prepare/distribute weekly reporting to Finance and Operations teams
  • Prepare, distribute, and communicate various reporting for internal stakeholders (e.g., tax depreciation projection, Cloudleaf data, intercompany transactions with Haier affiliates)
  • Partner with Finance & Operations to further drive synergies and Controllership acumen across the Business.  The goal being driving efficiencies, transparency, consistency, and accountability throughout the processes.
  • Serve as liaison with DT team relating to system upgrades and testing
  • Work with internal and external auditors to facilitate audit requests and support external and internal audits

What you need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field OR minimum of 2 years of experience in a finance role
  • Detail-oriented, Strong analytical and quantitative finance skills with focus on planning, prioritization, and problem solving
  • Financial analysis skills – must be able to analyze information and identify implications  
  • Strong communication skills and be a self-starter and work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access database, Oracle, Hyperion
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
  • High energy level; results oriented; self-motivated
  • Proven ability to work in matrix environment supporting other Finance functions
