The Challenge

The Senior Electronics Engineer will work with a small team of engineers to bring a new product category to GEA’s Plumbing and HVAC (Air & Water) microenterprise. Responsibilities include providing technical assistance and support on electronics and electrical systems to the Sales team, Distributors, Dealers, Architects, Contractors, and homeowners. The Senior Electronics Engineer will also be responsible for launching new products by developing design and evaluation criteria for current and future product launches. This is a great opportunity to be part of a new product category, Unitary or “Central” HVAC.

What you will Do

  • Work with internal team to ensure all Safety, Regulatory, and Marketing requirements for electronics and electrical systems are achieved
  • Develop an in depth understanding of industry standards and specifications with regards to building codes including International Building Code and National Electric Code
  • Work within a cross functional group of engineering, marketing, sales, quality, sourcing, and manufacturing to develop specifications for new, innovative products including thermostats and guide strategic technical direction
  • Support Air Conditioner wholesale distributors with electrical sizing, installation, and quality questions/concerns
  • Provide electrical technical support for post sales concerns and troubleshooting.
  • Interface with Product Management, Marketing, Quality, and Design Engineering in current and future product planning. Provide customer and field feedback
  • Troubleshoot field issues with root cause analysis. Provide timely feedback to the core team

What you need to Succeed


  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical degree
  • 7 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, and influencing skills
  • Ability with work with cross-functional team to support customers with HVAC equipment
  • Domestic travel required, ~ 10%

Desired Characteristics

  • 3+ years’ experience in HVAC electronic design and development
  • Experience with HVAC products and/or electronic thermostats
