The Challenge

The Manager, Manufacturing Quality provides leadership and strategy for response and resolution to daily production floor quality issues. Manages the third shift Quality Floor team as well as related improvement projects and processes.

What you will Do

Essential results-based duties

  • Manage Quality Floor team. Establish and monitor goals & metrics for each team.  Expand capabilities of hourly Quality Analysts (QAs) to include problem solving in addition to their current responsibilities.

  • Reduce End of Line Audit (EOLA) findings.

  • Resolve escalated floor & field issues.  Coordinate quality, manufacturing, design, PMQE & technology team resources to drive solutions.  Ensure control plans resolve issues.

  • Provide first response to highest level quality issues.

  • Facilitate, track and ensure closure of all CAPAs.

  • Manage implementation of new Quality System Procedures within the plant as it applies to the Quality Floor Team.

  • Drive Manufacturing Control Plan (MCP) strategy, ensuring compliance, metrics, action plans & continuous improvement.  Validate MCP’s are being followed, review MCP’s for discrepancies and facilitate resolution.

  • Update and communicate daily quality issues report for 3rd shift and root cause/corrective action plans for critical defects raised during daily production and escalation meetings.

  • Review overall product testing results (EOLA, CAT/CUT, Noise, Ship test, etc) for trends and issues.  Coordinate quality, manufacturing, supplier quality & technology resources to drive solutions.

  • Provide strategy and plan for overall quality data management for the facility. 

  • Coordinate training for team, EMS and union interaction.  Understand contract rules.  Grievance process – escalated issues.   

  • Own testing equipment function and operation including test loops, EOLA stations, and DC/pneumatic torque guns.

  • Work with QA’s to improve processes in all areas including support areas, testing, and assembly inspection.

What you need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in an operations environment

  • Microsoft office

  • Ability to analyze quality data

  • Strong cross functional communication

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with customers and operations

  • Bachelors degree in related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with union contract and leadership of union members

Working Conditions:

  • 3rd shift working hours are 8:30 pm - 6:00 am

  • Travel to suppliers and other manufacturing locations as needed
