Quality Lab Technician

The Challenge

GE Appliances, a Haier Company is experiencing significant growth, which is creating quality jobs in Decatur, AL. We have an immediate need for a Quality Lab Technician. The Quality Lab Technician will be responsible for completing routine testing of purchased materials, drive improvements of quality metrics using technology such as Vision Systems, DC guns, & 3D scanning. The Quality Technician will focus on improving containment efforts following quality failures.

What you will Do

  • Maintain & support the improvement of quality systems- i.e. Vision Systems, DC drivers, 3D scanners, SPC data entry programs.
  • Lead containment efforts following EOLA failures & support sorting operations for large supplier rejects that need in-house sorting.
  • Support day to day operations for rapid prototyping utilizing 3D printing & CNC machining.
  • Support projects that drive in-house quality improvements (yield, scrap, FPY)
  • Perform routine quality testing for supplier parts as needed.
  • Input rejections for raw steel & reconcile with supplier as needed.
  • Other duties assigned depending on business needs.

What you need to Succeed

  • Possess very strong computer skills. Be proficient in Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, etc.
  • Associates Degree/ 2yr Degree in Electronics, Electronics Engineering Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology or equivalent technical degree, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills & be able to work with a variety of teams.
  • Strong problem solving, math analytical, project management & collaborative skills.
  • Able to work independently & prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes.
  • Must have demonstrated initiative a& work with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to perform tasks under pressure of deadlines as well as multi-task.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated ability to influence/drive change at all levels in an organization.
  • Experience in a lab testing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years Quality experience and /or equivalent education in a Quality related field.
  • Background in applying statistical quality control tools for process and Product.
