The Challenge

The Senior Commercial Director - Small Appliances, will develop and lead the go-to-market strategy for our small appliance portfolio in the .com, retail, contract, and other or new sales channels. You will own the commercial metrics for the small appliances product lines, and work with Product Managers and other stakeholders cross-functionally. Through collaboration and influence, you will identify and create future product lines that lead the market and in result bring happiness and well-being to our consumers. You will work with the sales and marketing teams to develop content and execution strategies that exceed customer and consumer expectations and win in the marketplace. You will also have primary accountability for delivering the product line budget for revenue, price, share, and net standard margin (NSM), and additional responsibility for helping deliver product line inventory management goals.

What you will Do

  • Lead the commercial efforts with product management, sales, and marketing to identify opportunities and create strategies that deliver revenue, cash, and EBIT targets.
  • Develop and lead the Go to Market Strategy, Digital, Marketing, Content Development, and executions plans with Marketing, Merchandising, Channel partners and Sales (as required) to deliver market leading experiences and content to our customers and owners. 
  • You will work with Sales, Marketing, and Pricing to develop pricing and promotional plans that balance product line price and share goals and optimize profitability.
  • Own Small Appliances’ promotional strategy, calendar, and execution.
  • Work cross-functionally to develop and execute the Small Appliances Direct-to-Consumer eCommerce strategy. Develop key digital marketing competencies to support DTC growth.
  • Influence the strategic approach of MGPP’s, Growth Playbook and Product Plans to ensure GEA is positioned for success.
  • Proactively leverage expertise on competitive products and customer strategies to position GEA to win.
  • Work closely with sales leadership to create growth plans for Small Appliances, leading product line reviews with top customers partners and exceeding customer expectations. 
  • Develop new business models across brands to create additional revenue generation products/vehicles.
  • Partner with the fulfillment and sales team to accurately forecast inventory needed to meet the demand during all new product launches, promotion timing and day to day sales plans. 
  • Work closely with finance and pricing teams to evaluate impacts of pricing, promotion plans and inventory decisions.
  • Develop and lead executive leadership reviews including weekly QMI, commercial hoshin pulsing, weekly commercial council topics and other ad hoc requests. 
  • Partner with consumer insights, brand, industrial design and product managers to develop/leverage consumer research studies.  Ensure leading edge product marketing efforts, including digital, social, point of purchase material, feature & benefit copy and all other creative assets. 
  • Identify and Develop talent for the Small Appliances Commercial team.  Create the vision and strategy to execute when launching new products and realize the go to market strategy.
  • Manage the day to day work associated with the commercial needs of the Small Appliances team. 

What you need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited university or college in Marketing, Business, other relevant area
  • Minimum of 10 years of Commercial experience in Marketing, Sales, Product Management - business to consumer a plus
  • Proven track record as an effective change agent
  • Results oriented; ability to meet/exceed commitments
  • Effective communicator and negotiator
  • Team Player with demonstrated “outside in” focus who effectively leads/works across functions
  • Exceptional interpersonal/written communication skills; can effectively interact with all levels of the organization
  • Must be willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior channel and/or business development experience
  • Previous experience with Small Appliances a plus
  • Demonstrated fluency in language of technology, and translation of same to functionality
  • Exposure to operations and project management
  • Strong facilitation/presentation skills
  • Self-motivated, Enthusiastic can-do attitude, high energy level, strong sense of urgency

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Will require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
  • Up to 30% travel required Domestically and Internationally to customers, Haier HQ, etc.
