The Challenge

Essential Functions (Responsibilities): These duties are not all-inclusive and may change over time.

• Supports Management, the Quality team, Engineering team, and Operations in all aspects of Measurement Requests for the site.
• Read and interpret Engineering Drawings
• Perform Root Cause Analysis, organize and maintain systematic records
• Complete 3D Scans and Apply Measurement Science and Mathematics to develop and define procedures and methods for dimensional and optical measurement and Test Equipment based on analysis of measurement problems and accuracy and precision requirements
• Prep parts for Scanning – including Targeting and Spray Painting
• Obtaining required CAD data from Engineer or CREO/Windchill needed to complete analysis
• Knowledge and application of GD&T – Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
• Knowledge and application of QC Cal and Prolink Reporting Software
• Knowledge and application of Polyworks 3D Metrology Software
• Write new programs in Cameo Studio software language for new CMM measurement programs
• Perform required measurements on the CMM and transition to 3D Technology and enter data into system
• Scan Box VMR Programmer
• Use assorted metrology instruments (calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, Ray Tech, CMM, 3D Scanner)
• Read and use analogue and digital meters and also use specialized gauges and equipment
• Proficient at Scanning with GOM Atos systems of equivalent
• Operate FARO arm to secure shop floor measurements
• Perform foam tests – Rinco and cup tests – on all B foam tanker loads – also verify offload tank temperatures prior to offload
• Perform LOI testing for moisture content
• Cross Trained in other jobs within the Quality Department
• Computer Literate and skilled in Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook & other essential MS Software Additional Metrology Software as applicable

What you will Do

Education/Qualifications /Requirements:

  • Required:  completion of secondary school qualification in a technical field, military equivalent, or minimum of 2 years of related experience, Six Sigma Certification a plus
  • Understand Engineering Drawings, GD&T, and Gauge R&R Process
  • Experience in CAD and/or manipulation of 3D CAD data
  • Critical Thinking Skills to understand Test Requests and Proper Instrumentation to deploy, be able to work autonomously with limited Supervision and Multi-task 
  • Requires standing, stooping, walking on concrete 90 to 100%, occasional lifting, reaching, turning and carrying up to 75 pounds.   Includes securing units from shop floor, moving them into the CMM room and returning said units back to shop floor after taking needed measurements
  • Basic knowledge of Zoneline/refrigeration assembly and functionality – how the units work.
  • Exceptional Time Management Skills

  • Requires wearing applicable PPE
  • Hazards include power tools, gas torches, electrical circuits, sharp edges, and chemicals used in the product and manufacturing process
