Commodity Buyer - Service Parts

The Challenge

As a Commodity Buyer you will drive the execution of the commodity strategy for our Service Parts. You will be responsible for managing the total cost, relationship, and strategy, including managing and understanding the total risk associated with the supply chain. In addition, you will also drive the execution of the commodity strategy for products and programs.

What you will Do

  • Develop, lead, and execute international Sourcing strategy for assigned commodities, raw material and/or manufactured components
  • Establish the strategic direction and work to deliver cost-out, cash, and a stable supply chain
  • Maximize material cost take out on assigned buy, identifying and taking advantage of the lowest cost via negotiation, e-auctions, redesigns, and sub-tier component cost reductions
  • Manage Sourcing activities for assigned buy, including negotiation, quoting, PO issuance, and site support as needed for current and new designs
  • Provide subject matter expertise on the commodity, including the technology, materials, negotiations, market, and competition
  • Work effectively with R&D, Supplier Quality, and site materials personnel on day-to-day problem resolution and opportunities for cost reduction
  • Identify process and product opportunities delivering productivity and/or enhanced profitability
  • Lead supply base consolidation and supplier lead-time reduction initiatives on assigned commodities

What you need to Succeed

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 years of relevant sourcing experience within supply chain, program management, commodity management or in a related role
  • Experience with negotiating, identifying opportunities, selecting suppliers and/or implementing contracts
  • Strong project management and execution skills
  • Professional oral/written communication and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated team player with a strong initiative to win
  • Change agent with excellent facilitative leadership and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 2 years of functional Sourcing experience, with purchasing experience specifically in Service Parts
  • Working knowledge of Sourcing Systems and processes (Oracle, SAP etc.)
  • Demonstrated Lean experience
  • Six Sigma certification or equivalent

Working Conditions:

  • Up to 20% travel required for domestic and/or international travel to affiliate sites and suppliers.
  • Occasional teleconference attendance required outside of typical working hours.
