Commodity Buyer - Insulation and Die Cuts - REMOTE
Drives the execution of the Insulation and Die Cuts sourcing strategies for GEA refrigeration products and programs. Manages the strategy, total cost and supplier relationships of Insulation and Die Cuts commodities, including managing and understanding the total risk associated with the supply chain. Serves as a subject matter expert in the commodity, including the technology, materials, negotiation, market, and competition. Works in tandem with R&D, marketing, product management, operations and manufacturing specialists who as one team take those ideas and new products from concept to completion.
What you will Do
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Drive Insulation and Die Cuts sourcing strategy and manage all aspects of associated supplier relationships for assigned commodity.
Serve as a subject matter expert in the commodity, including the technology, materials, negotiation, market, and competition.
Manage direct supplier relationships in all aspects including commercial and supply chain management, NPI support, root-cause analysis of issues, problem resolution, and improving supplier manufacturing process.
Work effectively cross-functionally to develop and execute Sourcing strategies to deliver against material cost take out (MCTO), quality, delivery and cash goals.
Utilize request-for-quote (RFQ) tools & systems to manage supplier negotiations and data, to identify and drive project execution within given commodities.
Head strategic negotiations and review all agreements prior to execution.
Establish supplier risk and head up mitigation efforts.
Introduce supplier innovation whenever possible to improve GEA's costs and features.
Serve as a liaison between Sourcing, other business functions, and suppliers to ensure team and suppliers are effectively supporting the programs and NPI efforts.
3 years of relevant experience within supply chain, program management, commodity management or in a related role involving negotiating, identifying opportunities, selecting suppliers and/or implementing contracts
Solid track record of project leadership and execute with significant and impactful results
Proven project management and execution skills
Professional oral/written communication
Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change with team members, and at all levels of the organization
Exceptional problem solving and collaborative skills to develop and implement business strategies cross-functionally and globally
Demonstrated team player with an initiative to win
Change agent with excellent facilitative leadership and problem solving skills
Must travel into Louisville, KY headquarters once per month (1 day stay) OR once per quarter (3-4 day stay)
Up to 10% travel required for domestic and/or international travel to affiliate sites and suppliers.
What you need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business
- 2 years of functional Sourcing experience preferred, with purchasing experience specifically in commodity-specific elements (ex. plastic Extrusions and Blow Molded components)
- Working knowledge of Sourcing Systems and processes
- Demonstrated understanding of commodity-specific elements (ex. high volume manufacturing of plastic components/resin)
- Commodity-specific elements (ex. plastic component/resin) New Product Introduction (NPI) experience gained while working in operations, research and development and/or manufacturing
- Demonstrated Lean experience
- Six Sigma certification or equivalent
